The Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m) offers an unmatched panorama of the Chamonix valley and the high mountains of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.
A comfortable, electrical cog railway takes you from Chamonix to the station of Montenvers at an altitude of 1,913 metres. From there you can admire the impressive "sea of ice", 7 km long and an average of 1,200 metres wide.
